UTS In-Line

UTS In-Line is a connector that is designed to expand or repair links, and which assures a level of dynamic airtight sealing to IP68 or IP69K. It is an ideal solution for demanding applications such as robotics, off-road, road signage and railway signaling. The screw contact termination variant makes it the ideal companion for installation engineers.

The UTS In-Line connector is a modular solution available in four sizes and 13 contact arrangements. It is available with crimp, solder or screw contacts. They are all intermatable.

One connector with screw contacts can be coupled to a connector with solder or screw contacts ¿ this is what makes it particularly relevant to line extension repairs. All combinations are possible: cable-to-cable with standard connector, wire-to-wire with grommet connector, or even wire-to-cable using both a standard connector and a grommet connector.

The compact, all-plastic connector has no square edge, allowing it to be easily inserted, for example, in a narrow sheath or in areas that are difficult to access. It can transmit low or high power (up to 26 amps), or a signal of just a few milliamps.

Like the rest of the UTS range, UTS In-Line seals to IP68 and IP69K. This gives it immersion stability to a depth of 10m and, in cleaning operations, to pressures of 140 bar. This sealing is also dynamic: in concrete terms, this means it is protected even when the cable is drawn in all directions. The material, a high performance plastic, resists shock and vibration and offers excellent temperature performance (from -40 to +105 degrees Celsius). The connectors are also resistant to salt spray (up to 500 hours) and to UV, which enhances their reliability in outdoor applications.

UTS In-Line is also fitted with an ergonomic « TRIM TRIO® » closing mechanism ¿ an interlocking third-of-a-turn bayonet with a sensitive, audible click that guarantees a good connection. It is good for 250 operations and supports the following networks: Ethernet 10 BaseT, 100 BaseTX, 1000 BaseT, Cat5e (TIA/EIA 568B) and D class (ISO/IEC 11801).

The UTS range is part of the TRIM TRIO® family. It is a unique range on the market, comprehensive and designed on a modular basis. The sockets are common to all TRIM TRIO® connectors, as are the contacts. This results in complete freedom to design a connector with several different types of contact ¿ signal, power and high-speed (Coaxial, fibre optic). Through its modular approach, extensive range and resistance to extreme and severe environments, the TRIM TRIO® family positions itself as a benchmark for industrial circular connection.

ALSTOM selects SMS Flame Retardant connectors

SMS Flame Retardant is a range of lightweight rectangular plastic connectors for railway applications, which provide excellent levels of resistance to fire and smoke. They are the only connectors in their category to be certified for onboard uses in accordance with requirements II / I3F2 of standard
NF F 16-101/16-102.

The latest addition to the Souriau SMS series of railway connectors uses a UL94V0 thermoplastic that enables it to stand up to fire and smoke. It is designed for onboard railway applications: connections in passenger compartments, drivers¿ cabs, lighting, control consoles, etc.

SMS Flame Retardant connectors are made in two versions, with or without a cover, and both versions are available with 10 arrangements and up to 36 contacts. They feature the crimp fastening contacts in the Souriau TRIM TRIO® AWG16 range.

Their highly compact design makes them ideal connectors for integrations in locations with little space and for high-density applications. For example, they measure just 8 x 11 mm in the two-contact AWG16 arrangement and 23 x 46 mm in the 36-contact AWG16 arrangement.

SMS Flame Retardant connectors feature the quick locking and release clip system found in the SMS series. They are designed to stand up to 500 locking/release cycles and they are particularly well suited to harsh environments, with temperatures of use ranging from ¿40°C to +105°C.

SMS Flame Retardant connectors are part of the TRIM TRIO® family. This is a very wide-ranging family, the only one of its kind on the market, designed around a single modular base. The sockets are common to all the TRIM TRIO® connectors. That means of course that the contacts are also the same. Thanks to its modularity, the breadth of its range and its very high levels of resistance to harsh environments, the TRIM TRIO® family is a yardstick for industrial connections.
SMS Flame Retardant connectors have only been on the market for a few months, but they already equip the Citadis trams and the Metropolis metro cars made by Alstom. They will be presented at the Innotrans show in Berlin, from 23 to 26 September 2008.

New from SOURIAU's industrial TRIM TRIO® range.

The existing TRIM TRIO® UTS series IP68/IP69K circular plastic waterproof connectors have been extended to offer solutions that require sealing in unmated conditions when subjected to water immersion or high pressure cleaning.

UTS Hi seal is available in 5 shell sizes and up to 21 contact arrangements and is standard supplied with pre-equipped gold plated solder-bucket contacts. Crimp or dip-solder contacts are also available upon request.

The design is based on the MIL-DTL-26482 standard for metal style bayonet connectors. (equivalent standards are: NFC 93422, HE301B, BS9522-F0017, VG95328).

UTS Hi seal plastic connectors are therefore the perfect solution to overcome Sealing, corrosion, RoHS and ESD problems.

SOURIAU releases UTS RJ45 connector

Intended for high speed Ethernet connections in severe environments, the new connector in Souriau's "all plastic" UTS range can be assembled in less than a minute. It can be used with any standard RJ45 cable and really does not need any special tools for assembly or disassembly. It is particularly suitable for shop-floor or field installations for robotics, machinery, automation, railway and industrial telecommunications applications and on-board applications.

The UTS RJ45 connector stands out in the first place by its ease of assembly. Just take any new or used cable,remove the standard

fastening lug, and insert it into a receptacle. The clip fastening system developed by Souriau secures and holds the cable. Thanks to this system, and in contrast to competing models, the UTS RJ45 has only three main parts, which the operator is unlikely to lose during assembly.

The UTS RJ45 naturally benefits from the IP68 or IP69K sealing performance of the UTS range. This ensures stable characteristics on immersion at a depth of 10 m and during high-pressure cleaning at up to 140 bar. This sealing is dynamic, meaning in practical terms that it is maintained even when the cable is pulled in any direction. The material is a high-performance plastic with excellent impact and vibration resistance and a wide working temperature range (-40 °C to 105 °C). The UTS RJ45 connectors are also resistant to salt spray (500 hours) and UV, giving greater reliability in outdoor use.

The UTS RJ45 connector is fitted with the particularly ergonomic "TRIM TRIO®" family locking mechanism: 1/3-turn bayonet locking with a tactile and audible click ensuring proper connection. It is guaranteed for 250 mating cycles and can be used for Ethernet 10 BaseT, 100 BaseTX and 1000 BaseT, TIA/EIA 568B Cat5e and ISO/IEC 11801 class D networks.

RJ45 Ethernet connection system for industrial & harsh environments

The new RJ45 Ethernet solution from Souriau's industrial range is now available.

To respond to the growing demand from industrial & harsh environmental applications, e.g. high speed data transmission, Souriau has developed a new connector with a metal shell designed to accept a standard RJ45 cordset: the UTO RJ45

Using a standard RJ45 cordset, the UTO RJ45 connector is an easy to assemble solution for field installation without the need for any special tools.

Dedicated to industrial applications and harsh environments, this product offers high resistance to shock, vibration and corrosive elements such as salt spray.

In compliance with Cat 5e data networking standards, this solution is well suited to data acquisition and download applications; other applications include factory automation, robotics and network interconnection.

Souriau offers the UTO RJ45 connector with a male cordset in the plug and a female feed through in the receptacle. With the release of this connector, Souriau extends its existing Ethernet product range that includes the 8 pin UTO connector from the TRIM TRIO® range & the fiber optic microFX.
